Safeguarding citizen's data
The collection, storage, use and release of data stored in the ID card are protected  by the Data Protection Act. Only authorised officers at the National Identity Card Centres have access to the relevant database. 
The data on each Smart ID card is electronically secured and can only be validated through the MNIS Certificate Authority (MNIS CA) which ensures the authenticity of the individual's identity
Security Features on the Smart ID card


The Smart ID card includes a number of visual security features including Guilloche printing, Microprint, Ultraviolet print (UV), etc and uses laser engraving for printing on different layers of the ID cards.

Each and every Smart ID card bears a unique Card Control Number (CCN).

These security features provide the mechanism to detect any case of falsification.
