Temporary Closure of National Identity Card Centres for Deployment of New System

In light of this transition, the last date for collecting identity cards issued under the current system is set for Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
Normal operations are expected to resume at all NIC Centres starting February 19, 2024. During the interim period from January 18 to 31, 2024, all NIC Centres will extend their hours, remaining open until 18:00 on weekdays and from 09:00 to 16:00 on weekends.
The Mauritius National Identity Card Unit holds a significant number of uncollected identity cards. Individuals who have pending cards for collection are advised to visit the Registration and Issuance Centre indicated on their collection receipt. These centres include:
- Rose Hill National Identity Card Centre, NPF Building, Rose Hill
- Flacq National Identity Card Centre, Customer Service Centre (Ex Fire Station), Central Flacq
- Port Louis National Identity Card Centre, Emmanuel Anquetil Building, Port Louis (for applicants in the District of Port Louis and other collection sites closed since 2014)
- Port Mathurin Civil Status Office, Fisherman Street, Port Mathurin, Rodrigues
Applicants must personally visit their respective Registration and Issuance Centres during office hours and present the following documents for ID card collection:
- The collection slip provided during the ID card application. In case of loss, applicants can seek assistance from the Supervisor at the respective Centre.
- Previous ID card, if applicable.
- Police Memo (if the previous ID card has been lost).
Applicants are reminded to collect their identity cards by January 31, 2024.
